Tweets from Catalyst West Coast! Day 1

How often do pastors get welcomed by screaming fans and flashing cameras, while walking down the red carpet to….well, any place?

I had the privilege of walking the red carpet with 3,300 church leaders at Catalyst West Coast (aka #catwest) in Irvine, CA last week to hear wisdom from other leaders in the church, non-profit, and for-profit world like Andy Stanley, Guy Kawasaki, Erwin McManus, Craig Groschel, Perry Noble, Luis Palau and many more. They all represented some of the most innovative thinking and Christ-focused living, encouraging pastors to be more like Jesus by living radically and preaching dangerously.

Hillsong United led worship (among other amazing worship guys like Aaron Keyes) and the guys at Catalyst surprised us with comedians, beat-boxers, and we even got to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records(details to come)!

Technically, this is a conference geared toward church leaders under 40, but there were people of all ages represented, all yearning for God to be truly revealed through His Church.

I’ll be posting thoughts here and there as we (CharestCorp staff) continue to digest what we learned, but I went a little Twitter crazy those 3 days we were there, so here are my tweets from Day 1, called Origins (the least amount of tweets; be warned). We had several sessions to choose from throughout the day (Explorers, Innovators, Pioneers, Entreprenuers, and Activists). Erwin McManus encouraged us to go beyond church walls and he definitely shook my world a little, while he was at it (more on that later!).

Great takeaway from this day was learning about www.theoriginsproject.org. You may want to be a part of it, so watch the video!
